How We Treat

Other Therapies

We offer all kinds of extra treatments and therapies to make your stay at Moorpark as fulfilling as possible.

Considered an essential aspect of all therapy programmes, psychoeducation is the process of learning about mental health and wellbeing so that clients are better equipped to understand and address mental health challenges.

Psychoeducation usually works towards four main goals: gaining insight and information, medication and treatment, training in self-help and self-care, and the availability of a place to safely vent emotions.

Nutritionist One to One Sessions

In our busy lives, achieving a balanced and nutritional diet can be a real challenge, especially within the confines of addiction, which often affects our appetite and ability to care for ourselves. Moorpark offers one to one sessions with nutritionists who work closely with clients on designing a meal plan that will put their body in the best position for recovery, and develop their ability to obtain a balanced, healthy diet.

Trans-Cranial Electro Stimulation

Trans-Cranial Electro Stimulation (TES) therapy invites clients to use our Sartori chair, which offers a non-invasive process of stimulating the neural pathways responsible for creating serotonin. TES is a modern and effective method of treating alcohol and drug addiction, also helping to restore the immune system.

Hydrotherapy In Our Spa Capsule

Hydrotherapy has a range of benefits when it comes to wellness. Firstly, steam helps cleanse the client’s body of harmful toxins. Clients are able to set a comfortable temperature themselves, and enjoy aromas in our Spa Capsule which helps relieve chronic exhaustion, insomnia and stress. The infrared sauna, through a process of hydrofusion, also contributes to the detoxification process and promotes the synthesis of collagen.

Treating The Whole You

Massage & Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of massage that applies pressure to clients’ feet and hands and is an effective way of alleviating stress. This process works by calming the body’s central nervous system through touch. It can also reduce pain, lift mood and improve general well-being.

Yoga and Pilates

Moorpark offers space for clients to engage in sessions that promote wellbeing on a physical, mental and spiritual level. Yoga is an ancient practice that combines physical poses, concentration and deep breathing to strengthen the body and provide a space to be mindful and tranquil. It allows clients to test themselves, their strength and their focus, while still remaining in a comfortable and safe environment. Pilates focuses on small movements, and places a larger focus on physical exercise.

AcuDetox is a form of acupuncture which can be used specifically for treating drug and alcohol addiction. It was developed in 1985 by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, who aimed to alleviate the damaging behavioural symptoms of addiction, trauma, stress, and insomnia. AcuDetox focuses primarily on five distinct points of the ear and works well when complimenting counselling and other therapies.

HeartMath & Meditation

Based on 25 years of research, HeartMath is a specialist meditation technique which aims to strengthen the connection between the mind and the heart. It employs scientific principles to bring coherence between the physical, mental and emotional systems, promoting restoration and positive emotions.

Meditation takes many other forms, and clients can benefit from guided meditations that help the mind manage the challenges of early recovery.
